Chrysanthemums contain pyrethrins and sesquiterpene lactones that can cause vomiting, diarrhea, drooling, and even depression or incoordination in cats.

  • Hardy Mum

Symptoms of poisoning:

  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Drooling
  • Lethargy
  • Loss of coordination (ataxia)

What to do:

Contact your vet—even small ingestions matter.

  1. Remove plant access immediately.
  2. Rinse mouth gently with water.
  3. Call your veterinarian or ASPCA APCC at (888) 426-4435.
  4. Monitor closely for 24 hours—neurological signs can develop.
