Rosa spp.

Toxicity: āœ… SAFE FOR CATS (with caution)

Roses

True roses (Rosa spp.) are non-toxic to cats! However, thorns can cause mouth or paw injuries, and store-bought bouquets may be treated with pesticides or preservatives that are harmful.

Also known as:

  • Red Rose
  • White Rose
  • Garden Rose

Symptoms of poisoning:

    What to do:

    Generally safe—but take precautions:

    1. Trim thorns if your cat is curious.
    2. Avoid floral foam (often contains toxic phenol).
    3. Keep vase water clean—stagnant water can harbor bacteria.
    4. Never confuse with ā€œDesert Roseā€ or ā€œChristmas Roseā€ā€”those are TOXIC!

šŸ’” Fun fact: Rose petals are edible for humans—and harmless if your cat nibbles one!
